BANANARAMA-VENUS
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
The song demonstrates the Rock and Roll generation of 1980s. The relationship between the music and visuals are related as the visuals is rough and tough like the song. The mise-en-scene and background lighting are dark and heavy which shows the theme of heavy metallic music. The song also have lots of close up of the main artist to show his facial expression and body language. The main artist is more prioritised than his band members to show the main artist is more popular with the audience and is pleasurable to desire for.
Queen-I want to break free
The song narrates the story of a group of men wanting to live their lives as being women. The song implies Goodwin's theories in a significant ways. For instance, The music video shows a relationship between lyrics and visuals. The background of crowded people in dark symbolises artist's desire of becoming free. The music video also have close ups of main artist to show from his point of view. The mise-en-scene and make ups develop the overall theme of the feminine power in the music video as how artists are possessed with feminine clothes and products. The music video provides symbolism and responses that is what some 1980s men desire to be.

Target Audience
The target audience for our music video is teenagers and young adults, in particular girls. We think that they will be able to empathise more with the actress in our video and possibly relate with her. On the poster we have put pictures of things that our target audience would like e.g the perfume. We have also put these things on to represent the sweetness of the girl in our music video. Like Cheryl Cole in the poster our actress is innocent and pretty but as the time passes she becomes more optimistic and aggressive as she is betrayed and fooled by her own fate.
Previous student work
Strengths-
- The actor in the video is good at playing the guitar so it is believable that he is playing the song
- The lip sincing is very good which makes it look like he is really singing
- I like the range of shots used throughout the video such as the high angles and the close ups as it makes it more interesting rather than just him standing there singing
- i like the way he sings it to the audience, it makes the song seem more meaningful
- They could have used a better range of locations or if they wanted to stay at the same one throughout they could have found a more interesting location
- they havnt used any effects throughout the video which made it quite boring

Hear you can see the original single cover for Lil Waynes song 'How To Love'. i like it because i think the dark colours and the way Lil Wayne is standing reflects the saddness of the song.
On the front cover of our digipack i have ideas of having a close up shot of our main actress at the train station with a train going past in the background. This could represent her letting go of the past and looking foward to the future.

Similar to this picture i have found but the girl wouldnt be smiling to show the seriousness of the story and she wouldnt be looking directly to the camera. i would also like to get a train going past at the same time.
Another Idea i have had is having a long shot of the girl in the field walking. It would be taken from far away to make her look small in the big wide space. This would reflect her lonleyness and vunrabilty in the music video. Here is an example of how i would want it to look like-

I really like the effects used in this picture as i think it sets the mood well.

Setting and Location for our Music video

This location is going be used in the beginning of the music video while the girl walks through open field listening to her Ipod. We decided to use this type of location to present the character is isolated by the society. The plainness of open field is a symbolism of her feeling emptiness and dissatisfied with her life. In this scene the audience will see through the view point of a girl.

We have chose cafe to show the conversation between the girl and a boy we chose college for this scene but later on we changed the college scene into cafe- that's where the most of the scene of boy and a girl is going to be shot.
The setting of 'Abbey Garden' is used when the girl is shown with her boyfriend. It can be also used for girl's flashbacks .We chose this setting to reflect the relation the girl have with her boyfriend .The setting is perfect in mid winter as this can show girl's insecure feelings.

How to Love by Shameik Moore
Sunday, 30 October 2011
Cover by Adam Stanton
Vague idea of story line behind our music video
- Not that popular but very intelligent and active.
- From middle Class
- Is deeply and madly in love with the girl who sit next to him in Drama lesson.
- About 5ft 4 - very attractive with blonde hair
- Pretends she is popular and acts too cocky in college
- At home she is terrible abuse by her father
- When the girl realize the love for the boy it is too late as the boy moves on with his life.
- The audiences are shown through the girl's point of view as at the end she is the one who suffers by not knowing how to love rather than the boy or her father.

Questionnaire:Music
Our Music Survey shows flexibility of everything but among all female singers are the strongest. As there is the high percentage of audiences listening to R&B singer like Chris Brown. We decided to do Lil Wayne- How To Love but before coming to final decision we did agreed to do Chris Brown -Beautiful People but unfortunately there was not enough sources we needed in the music video for exmaple we did not have props we needed and having less people were our weakest point.
MediaProductions- Previous Wrok
- Camera shots are very effective as it has created more than one meaning.
- Artist's lip synching is accurate and fluent which perfectly blends with the song.
- Instruments are used correctly and effectively.
- The weather was a huge disappointment as it did not suited with the song as the song should have needed more cheerful surrounding and sunny weather.
- Customs were very appealing as again it did not suited with the song.
- Instead of long shots and establishment shots there should have been more close ups and mid shots for instance, there should have more close ups and mid shots of a girl, after all the song is about her.

Previous Student Work
Strength:
Have an effective camera shots which symbolises girl's loneliness.
The singer has an excellent lip syncing and plays guitar well.
Location was the most eye capturing as the woods and plain fields symbolised girl's isolation and it also reflect her sad mood.
Editing was just mind blowing. It was interesting, creative and clever.
Weakness:
More Close ups and proper costumes would have made the music video more popular and likeable.

One Shot music Video by Christina Aguilera
- Extreme close up her facial expression gives people hope and makes them believe there is nothing impossible in life.
- The black and white lighting reflects her emotions and blends with the song itself.
- Her pale white dress reflects she is innocent woman but it can be seen as her image of wearing less clothing is suggesting she is vulnerable woman and a victim.
- Crane shots in the video shows she is desperate for someone to hear her voice. Crane shots also makes the video personal and special which is directly address to the audiences.
- The shot of her in white rectangle shape makes her stand out against the black/grey street- could be showing the contrast between bad and good attitude of human nature.

- The lyrics which is personal and very inspiring.
- The performance of Christina which is directly address to the audiences.
Tuesday, 20 September 2011
- Camera work- how the shots shape the meaning of the song. For instance, the long shots of Chris Brown performing a live.
- The special effect it used to symbolise the meaning for instance, the shot of a studio and the people in it is to symbolise their power and to inform the audiences that's where they hang around.
- The artist it self as he is considered to be the most important in the video because lot of shots are seen through his point of the view.
- Internationally the 'Beautiful People' reached the top ten in four countries.
- Received lots of positive reviews from critics.
- The bold fonts in yellow - It was really cool and unique.
- The song's lyrics which is beautiful itself.
- Other artists!

The performance video of 'The Beatles' have all those elements that is needed:
- Most of their fans are girls this is clearly shown in video.
- Even though the stage is plain and less attractive the costumes wore by the band makes the performance stands out.
- The performance shows special bond between the band members.
- The band members are shown well behaved and dressed smartly which suggests they are professional.
- The direct address towards the audiences makes the audiences feel the band is singing just for them. Direct address is personally and emotionally involved in this video.
Things I like about this video
- The singing- as in this video the artists are shown more focus on actually singing than focusing in the camera.
- The settings of the performance- showing how the band completely dominant the entire place.
- Mise-en-scene of the performance is the best!
How successful was the video?
- It was number 1 twice in England 1963.
- Still in the UK this song is the biggest selling single of the Beatles.
- The song was not that popular in USA.
Analysing the music video
The song have a story of how an artist saying how luxury her life is.Overall the meaning of the song illustrates that no matter how famous she is. She is still the same girl that she used to be before she was famous. The song also suggests that fame will never change her and who she is.
The vedio is considered as a narrative type as Fergie includes a story of how her life changed from being normal girl to a super star. The song have a repetitive theme of luxury living which suggests with a right dream and attitude people can live the life Fergie lives. The Direct address towards the audience is very effective in this video as Fergie tries to convey her fans that nothing is impossible.
The things that I like the most is
- Fergie attitude and the way she lures the audience to listen her and how successful she is.
- Mise-en- scene is the best! As these is the main element which symbolises the luxuries in the vedio.
How Famous was the video
- Ferige's Glamorous was debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number 98 in January 2007.
- The song was also debuted at 56th in the UK singles chart and peaked at 6th for top 10.

Jay Z Empire State of mind -Released in 2009
R Kelly I believe i can fly- Released in 1996
Hype Williams creation of high quality of music videos is what I adore the most as it explores more than one ideas. For Example Jay Z Empire state of mind music video includes fast beating tunes which is contemporary and expressive. The use of fast fading pictures in the beginning is in high quality as the music video shares the story of how rich and powerful New York is. The idea of Jay Z becoming superior than buildings and other people shows people like Jay Z are the one who makes New York so popular and attractive.

Little bit changes are made!
We have made some changes in our thriller opening. To make it more suspenseful we have decided to add some dialogues.
The reason we have decided to use dialogues is because it makes the audience read Dad's thoughts and feelings. So lets hope! it is going to work well.
Talking about our opening thriller we have finished trimming and cutting the clips and now we are working towards editing clips and adding some music :)

Locations for Filming
For 'Little Vicky's' scene we used my dad's house to film.
Post-Production
The video is uploaded and we have cut various shots down to the appropriate size.
For the flashbacks we have used LightRays, an effect that makes the clips seem dream-like with white borders to connotate the innocence of the child in the scene. We decided to put close-ups of both the father's and 'Little Vicky's' eye to get the message across that he is always watching her and she has been aware of this from a young age.
We have decided to make various background music but that is next on our list of things to do :)
Some scenes we have thought it best to keep naturalistic sounds to offer realism to the viewer, i.e. when the dad is watching television and waiting for his daughter to come home.
We have kept on track! :)

Inspiration for 'Dad'

Evaluation of 'Jumping Jack'
We used over-the-shoulder shots to create a view from a particular characters' perspective. We also used close-up shots of Jack to show his initial reaction (shock) and emotions because of this. We used different non-diegetic sounds to exaggerate certain situations and highlight an alien-like atmosphere. These added-on sounds also make the clip more suspenseful (ticking clock) and also amusing (cartoon-style noises).
To Improve:
Extending length of time for shots so there is more time for post-production. Some clips i.e when Jam Joe laughs at the end, the music prevents the viewer being able to hear the full extent due to lack of timing.
Certain clips were split and because of our lack of understanding of iMovie, we were unsure of how to undo the process.

M Night Shyamalan
Most of his films have some kind of twist or surprise ending. He frequently uses shot of peoples reflections in various objects. Many of his films involve two ordinary individuals with extstrodinary events happening to them. One of the people is or has connections to a child. His films often use events in the main characters past as a major connection to whats happening in the present. He often has small parts in his own movies. He frequently uses water as a sign of death or weakness. He also uses car crashes and important scenes in the basement. He uses bright colours and shots of two people talking who are usually standing a distance from the camera.
Some of his most well knowm films are- The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village, The Happening, Lady In The Water, Unbreakable, The Last Airbender, Wide Awake.

Thriller opening of previous student
- The use of music is very suspenseful which is there to build up tension.
- Camera shots are used very effectively to make the audience want to watch more....The close up shot of gun is an good example!
- The only problem I found was letting the audience know who the killer was....I think there was too much detail on killer.

Analysis Of Previous Student Work
Positives:
1. The factual information about smiling at the beginning of the clip.
2. The narrative is different because the voiceover sounds 'creepy'
Negatives:
1. Sound levels are low which makes speech sometimes unclear.
2. The picture at the end of the clip is also unclear, which confuses the viewer.
